Protected: Filming Opportunity for the Summer

Wednesday, July 2nd, 2008

I have received this e mail today from a Darlington Council source.

Hi, during the summer Darlington Youth Service will be running a project called 3 min rE-view in which young people can make and record a film on any subject that interests them but it can be no longer than 3 mins in length. At the moment I’m only looking to run the project on Wed 30th July, Wed 6th & Wed 13th August at EPC 1 till 4 and places will be limited so if you have any young people interested in such a project let me know asap. If demand is high I will look at the posibility of running
extra sessions.
Examples of the type of films that they may want to make are mini documentary on were they live, or sport they participate in or a subject they feel passionate about.
They can make a mini movie, write a script and take a leading role, or film themselves performing a dance routine or make a promotional advert for a youth club/project as long as it’s no longer than 3 mins and dosent involve in danger i.e stunts like you see on Jackass anything goes.
Get in touch at michael.clark@darlington.gov.uk or telephone tel 01325 346210. (Mike Clark)

Please see details below about the Art Competition to design the Christmas card that goes to all Stagecoach students at Christmas 2008.  Megan Lundberg of Friday Darlington Stagecoach won it one year so it is do-able!!  Have a go. Any age group from Early Stages to Further Stages

                 YOUR CHANCE TO BE CREATIVE!

Design a Christmas Card and win a night out at a West End Show! Come up with a festive idea and you could see you design on over 35,000 cards which will be sent by Stagecoach all over the UK and abroad.

Last year’s competition was a great success and again you can be as imaginative as you like - just make sure your design combines a theatrical and festive theme.

You can draw, paint or print on paper or card, and you can do it any size you like but please do not send any cards with cut-outs, glitter or things stuck on, as these can’t be printed. Also we’ll be looking for something different from last year’s design which was a Christmas tree decorated in Stagecoach colours.

Although Christmas may seem far off, we need to have all the designs in by 4th August.

We will judge the competition here at Head Office. The winning design will be printed and sent out this Christmas and its creator will win four tickets to a West End show.

Send your designs to:-

Vivienne Parsons, Christmas Card Competition, Stagecoach, The Courthouse, Elm Grove, Walton-on-Thames, Surrey KT12 1LZ

[please include your name, age and Stagecoach School]

And remember we need to get them no later than 1st August

                       GOOD LUCK!

INTERACT WORKSHOP OPPORTUNITY

South Tyneside                (workshop 28th July - 1st August)

InterAct is launching a series of holiday workshops this summer: each location will run a five day workshop group in the morning and a different group in the afternoon.

InterAct is for everyone who finds it difficult to take part in
performance workshops like those run by Stagecoach.

The workshops are absolutely free for those that take part.

We are now in a position to also offer places to current Stagecoach students (stages 2 and 3).

For those Stagecoach students who take part, it is a great experience to work with children who they may not come into contact with very often. This is useful to us because Stagecoach students act as great role models for InterAct students.

*         Those that take part have a great time. The emphasis is on fun and togetherness.

*         All our workshops are run by current Stagecoach teachers.

*         There will be a performance on the last day to family and
friends.

Places are limited to 10 per workshop. We will send confirmation letters direct to those students invited to take part.

Finally, if you know of children or organisations outside Stagecoach in your area that would benefit from the work of InterAct, please let me know.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO TAKE PART THEN PLEASE RING TRUDY ON 01325 337667

Below is some additional information about the workshop and a flier advertising the South Tyneside one.

InterAct Holiday Workshops

What is InterAct?

InterAct is a project of The Stagecoach Charitable Trust, supported by Stagecoach Theatre Arts plc, the world’s largest part-time performing arts school. It aims to bring together groups of young people who wouldn’t traditionally be in the same room together. InterAct provides disadvantaged youth with real opportunities to develop valuable skills for life through dance, drama and singing.

InterAct is a registered charity (reg charity number 1081561) and  is for children and young people, from whatever background, who for whatever reason, finds it difficult to join in with musical theatre schools like Stagecoach.

InterAct is an inclusive performance workshop designed to make drama, music and movement accessible to as wide a group of young people as is possible.

InterAct is for young people aged 10 to 16.  It involves both special needs and mainstream children coming together to develop confidence-building activities through drama, dance and music.  Participants are invited onto the programme at no charge.

One of the most crucial aspects of InterAct is its aim to bring together groups of people that wouldn’t traditionally be in the same room.

The impact is staggering: the young people are aware of each other’s differences, but this consciousness passes very quickly and turns into an appreciation and respect for what each individual brings and shares with the group.

Format

  • The students are 10-16 years old.
  • Each of the workshops is split 3 ways between drama, movement and music.
  • Each session lasts 2 ½ hours, with a 10-minute break.
  • All the activities take place in one large space involving the whole group.
  • The workshop will be free of charge to all students
  • There will be one workshop in the mornings (5 sessions) and one in the
    afternoons (5 sessions)
  • Children will come from ALL backgrounds, including mainstream schools.
  • There will be up to 30 places available per workshop
  • There will be a performance (demonstration) on the last day of the workshop

And yet another opportunity for the adults:-

BBC2 Fashion Trade ShowLooking for women to Trade Fashion items as part of TV show An exciting new primetime BBC2 fashion series, Fashion Trade (working title), is being made by  Silver River TV.  Essentially, the idea is based on women trading in their own quality fashion items for an inspired new wardrobe leaving all credit cards at home!   The aim is to have an outstanding selection of clothing to swap and shop from, from vintage, high street to designer clothes.  Top celebrity names are set to be on the floor to help some women choose the best clothes… its very hard to keep their names a secret but this is all we can say just yet as its still very hush hush! Don’t worry no-one will be asked to strip down naked on the shopping floor just swap and shop and explore the huge studio floor!   Perhaps the best clothes to swap are the black dresses or gorgeous trousers the women you know have too many to cope with? Or maybe a recently outgrown wardrobe, vintage gems tucked away, or clothes kept in mint condition and fancying a new style.

Silver River are accepting applications from all women over the age of 17 years regardless size to be a part of this landmark event!   Contact Rachel Hardie for an application form and email or post it back as soon as possible. Rachel Hardie, email fashion@silverriver.tv or phone 0207 907 3407.

I learned about this new TV programme looking for volunteers. Sounds like it might pay better than most.

BBC documentary series - London is fast becoming the financial capital of the world. But have you ever wondered exactly how the dealers, traders and investment bankers make so much money? And why do the decisions they make on a daily basis have such a big influence on our economy?   With record bonuses paid out last year of over £8.8 billion it’s no surprise that the world of City Dealing is shrouded in secrecy…. until now.   We’re looking for 6 people, who have no professional experience of trading, to be part of a new experiment we’re conducting for BBC television “Traders”. We’ll train you in the ways of City dealing before setting you up with a substantial amount of capital to invest as you see fit.    Do you have what it takes to succeed in the cut throat world of the City - and take home your very own Fat Cat Bonus?   If you are interested then contact Sascha Olofson on 0207 378 6106 or email: traders@centuryfilmsltd.com leaving a contact number and a convenient time to call.
