Qdos Pantomimes and Darlington Civic Theatre are giving a member of the public a Christmas to remember as they hold open auditions for the role of The Princess in this year’s spectacular production of Jack and the Beanstalk.
Michael Harrison, Managing Director of Qdos Pantomimes and producer of Jack and the Beanstalk, said:
“This is a terrific opportunity to be part of the Civic Theatre panto team and play your part in Darlington’s biggest ever pantomime. No previous stage experience is necessary; however, those wishing to audition for the role of The Princess should be between the ages of 16 and 30, have a great singing voice and should be available from Monday 24 November 2008, when rehearsals start, to the end of the run on Sunday 18 January 2009. So come along! This is your chance to show off the exceptional talent in the North East!”
No preparation or contact with the theatre is necessary - simply turn up with sheet music of your favourite song and perform for the judging panel – which includes Dragon’s Den star Duncan Bannatyne! Celebrity member on the judging panel, Duncan Bannatyne, says:
“I am thrilled to be part of such a fantastic project in Darlington. I think it is great the Civic Theatre is offering local young females the chance to star in a professional role in the pantomime, and it’s exciting for me to be involved in choosing the right person for the role.”
The person chosen as The Princess, will be offered a contract and will perform alongside Ian Reddington, known to millions of television viewers as Coronation Street’s ‘Vernon Tomlin’. Following his laugh-a-minute performance as Nurse Gertie in last year’s panto, Snow White & the Seven Dwarfs, Steve Arnott
