The West End tour of the “Sound of Music” is underway. At the moment it seems as if they are going to tour the children of the Von Trapp family with the show. It will come up to Sunderland as part of the tour but that leg has already been cast as far as I understand from the casting director.
I can submit names of students to be considered for an audition invitation but it is pointless offering your details unless you are prepared to live away from home, being chaperoned NOT by your parents and having your school work taught to you by a tutor every day. You would also have to have very few days lost to previous licences across the last year.
Only experienced students should apply, who are confident and VERY proficient in Singing, Dance AND Drama, or students who have had previous near-success in similar auditions.

The casting details are below:-
Specifically we are looking for the following with approximate height limits-
Friedrich 5 foot Voice must be unbroken
Louisa 4 11
Kurt Approx 4 9 Voice must be unbroken
Brigitta Approx 4 7
Marta Approx 4 4 or under
Gretl Under 4 foot
We are bound by the height of Leisl who is not cast yet and who is played by an adult. She is likely to be 5 2 or above. Thus the height limits for the rest of the Von Trapps are critical!
The show will be touring three teams of children who will be playing like this -
Monday - Thursday Team 1
Friday and Saturday Team 2
Monday to Thursday Team 3
Friday and Saturday Team 1
Monday to Thursday Team 2
Friday and Saturday team 3 etc etc etc
The show will rehearse in London and then open in Cardiff for 4 weeks. Cardiff based children will live at home during this period and London children will commute from home to rehearsals. After Cardiff all children will tour to Bradford, Southampton, Milton Keynes, Sunderland.
They will tour on a rota as above with chaperones and come home as much as possible.
